Dawson off the mark with Penolva
Banbridge trainer Sarah Dawson saddled her first winner on the track when Penolva came home in front of the Meade Potatoe Company Handicap under Seamie Heffernan.
Heffernan who made virtually all kept on well inside the final furlong to see off the challenge of the locally trained Dodder Walk by a short head.
A delighted Dawson said afterwards: “That was my first winner on the track I’ve had a couple at the points.”
“We bought her out of Paul Deegan’s, she’s so genuine and a straight forward filly to train.”
“She loves the quick ground and depending on how she comes out of the race we might go to Killarney.”
“Seamie [Heffernan] gave her a great ride, he used his head and made plenty of use with her and we knew she’d stay.”
