Dancer decisive from the front

It was all very straightforward for Prairie Dancer in the Sheridan Electric Hurdle, as he made all and came home an easy winner under JJ Slevin.

Successful on his sixth try over flights at Cork last month, the Joseph O'Brien trained gelding was since beaten into second at Clonmel when sent off favourite.

Again the market leader this evening, going off at evens, he jumped well apart from a slight mistake three out.

He had matters under control before the final flight and soon stretched clear, coming home sixteen lengths to the good in the colours of Sean Sweeney and Kieran O'Hare. Douglas Dc (6/4) was off the bridle in second after two out and was a spent force when clambering over the last. He eventually came home in second under Jack Kennedy for Gordon Elliott, eleven lengths clear of Rebel Step in third.

"We thought we'd get the chance to make the running on him and thankfully it worked out well. He jumped and travelled well and coped with the ground well," Slevin said.

"He's a straightforward horse and if there's nothing going along, he's more than happy to make it. He got in a bit deep to the third last but other than that he jumped pretty well, he has a good brain for the job.

"It should be no bother to him to mix it in handicap hurdles now, he’s plenty hardy and plenty solid.

"I'm getting on a few nice horses at the moment and that makes things a bit easier."
