Crawford brothers combine for Streamtown win
Streamtown trained in Larne, Co Antrim by Stuart Crawford took the Boy Named Sue Beginners Chase ridden by Crawford's brother Steven at the odds of 6/1.
After pulling up in three point-to-point's last year the daughter of Bob Back left that form behind her winning on her fifth start between the flags at Ballingarry in June of 2010.
She then ran some good races in defeat in two bumpers and three hurdles before making the breakthrough at Sedgefield in March.
On her first start over fences at Kelso back in April she disappointed finishing along way back in fourth in Handicap company.
Having her first start today in nearly two hundred days she made headway into third before the second last and was ridden to lead at the last. She kept on strongly from there to score by eleven lengths. Fairwood Massini finished back in second for Philip Rothwell and Declan Bates at 6/1 while Breeze With Ease stayed on to take third a length and a quarter back at 9/1.
Winning owner Barry Murphy from Rosslare said afterwards: "I was hoping she would be placed as I thought she would need the run.
"She jumped sketchy at Kelso on her first start over fences but she put in two great jumps at the end today and the race worked out well for her.
"She is a well bred filly."
Winning trainer Stuart Crawford said afterwards: "That's my brother Steven who rode her and it’s his first winner over fences.
"She is very consistent and that was only her second run over fences.
"I have twelve point-to-pointers in at the moment and I am only getting going with them."
