Red Laser made all for a cosy success, under Sean Corby, in the apprentice handicap at Gowran Park.

The Michael Halford-trained gelding travelled best at the head of affairs as they past they two pole and kept on well when asked for an effort over a furlong out.

The 7/2 shot went on to post a three-length verdict over well backed 11/4 favourite Longfield Lad (6/1 this morning).

The winner was gaining reward for his consistency having been runner-up on two of his last three runs.

Promising apprentice Corby was surprisingly partnering his first winner for boss Halford, who said:

“That's actually Sean's first winner for us. He's been with us since he was 12.”

On the winner Halford added: “He's consistent and these are his ideal conditions. He loves fast ground and is genuine.

“Sean knows him and rode him very well. He got an uncontested lead and it worked out a treat.”

Ian Queally suffered a fall just after the line when his mount Alfaayza was squeezed up and stumbled. He was reported to be fine after the incident.
