Twice previously a course winner, including over this seven furlong trip, Rummaging was confidently expected to go in again, in the Dundalk Stadium – Light Up Your Night Handicap, and he did manage to justify odds of 5/4, but only just.
There were a few of them pulling for their heads in this event, indicating that the pace mightn't have been that strong.
However Toccata Blue took them along and Rummaging (Shane Foley) in the finish up managed to outpoint that rallying rival by a neck.
Toccata Blue's fellow Ger Lyons runner Queen Of The Sand (didn't get the run of the race) finished off her race well to be another neck off the first two in third.
"It was a bit messy at the start. He's normally a bit slow away and comes home well.
"It worked out a bit differently today but he's very genuine and he stuck at it well.
"He deserved that – he's a model of consistency and he loves it here.
"We'll keep ticking along with him," explained winning trainer Michael Halford. (GC & EM)
