Condon Back in Business on Home Soil
Withdrawn when bolting before the start at the meeting here on April 20th, Two Left Boots was on his best behavior in the Dunhilll Handicap Hurdle to credit trainer Tony Mullins with a first winner since Split Ear at Cork on April 11th. The win was significant for rider, Davy Condon, his first back home since returning from his stint with Nicky Richards.
The French bred was slowly away but he cantered to the front before the last and eased away for a four length victory over Chronomatic
Mullins said: "The owner, Frank Doyle owns the arboretum in Leighlinbridge. He has had horses with myself and Willie in the past. This horse has shown ability in the past but then he went off the wall a bit. We brought him to a horse dentist, Tom Fleming in Dungarvan, and he fixed him up. I hope he'll be a Galway horse. If the handicapper doesn't go too mad with him he might win a couple of more races."
Condon is schooling at Willie Mullins' on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Joanne Morgan's on Wednesdays and at the Curragh on Fridays.
This race sadly saw the demise of County who fell at the last.
