Complete Fiction obliged under Neve Bennett in the second split of the apprentice handicap over an extended 10-furlongs in Naas.

Bennett rode him into contention a furlong and a-half down and the pair kept up the momentum to take over inside the final furlong.

Make Believe gelding Complete Fiction kept finding for pressure to roll home by half a length at 11/1 having been available at double those odds in morning trading. You Owe Me Money kept on in second, but couldn't reach the winner and was a length and a-quarter in front of Proleek Prince at 12/1.

Jarlath Fahey said: “He had a nice run in Leopardstown (eighth) the other night and he bounced out of it well.

“He was too consistent last year and went up too much, and he just needed to come back down in grade.

“Neve gave him a great ride and her 7lb claim was a big help. He can win at that level and is just not able for the next level.

“It’s great for Triona (Burbage, owner) who rides him out every day and looks after him.”

This was seven-year-old Complete Fiction's fourth career success.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed Neve Bennett, rider of Complete Fiction, concerning her use of the whip in closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Neve Bennett accepted she was in breach of the regulation and apologised for her actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards found Neve Bennett was in breach of R.10.3(g) (frequency) and in considering her record in this regard (second offence) they suspended her for four race days.
