Ciara rocks Killarney yet again
The consistent Rock On Ciara (5/1) followed up her victory over the course and distance at the May meeting by scoring again, in the Dawn Hi Lo Milk Handicap for her trainer Joe Murphy and jockey Emmet McNamara.
The daughter Rock Of Gibraltar has come on a lot this year, running consistently well. She beat subsequent two timer winner Aragorn Icon when winning here in May and finished second on her next start at Leopardstown.
She since finished fourth when sent off the 4/1 favourite, again at Leopardstown, however that was on good to yielding ground.
The 5yo filly was travelling best early in the straight and although it took her a while to get going, she got on top inside the final furlong and was pushed out from there to score comfortably. Moving Statue ran an eye-catching race to take second half a length back at 10/1, while long time leader Ashton Rose (6/1) was a further length and three parts behind in third.
The 4/1 favourite Some Slam for trainer David Marnane, lost ground at the start and stayed on well to take fourth.
Winning trainer Joe Murphy said afterwards: "We gave her a break after her last run and she is improving all the time. Emmet gave her a great ride."
