On his second start the Tony Martin trained Eight Chimes took the last at Fairyhouse, the Follow Fairyhouse On Twitter (Pro/Am) Flat Race, under Alan Berry.

The 5yo French bred son of Kaldounevees ran well on his debut over the course and distance last month to finish third behind Outlander.

Having opened the 5/2 favourite with Paddy Powers this morning he drifted and opened on track at 5/1.

He was backed into 4/1 at the off as the Mag Mullins trained newcomer So Oscar went off the 2/1 favourite under Patrick Mullins.

That fellow was ridden entering the straight and finished a disappointing sixth while the winner was ridden to lead over a furlong from home and he stayed on well under pressure to hold off the challenge of the Gillian Callaghan trained Mad Brian (9/2) by a length.

The Christy Roche trained Indian File finished a further five and a half lengths back in third under Kevin Power.

Tony Martin said afterwards: "He ran here the last day and he hadn’t done much and we were happy with him. It was a fact finding mission.

"He is still very unfurnished and he’ll make a lovely chaser down the road. We will be easy on him for the rest of the season and maybe give him one run over hurdles.

"He will be a lovely novice hurdler next season and he is one to look forward too."

The winner was purchased for just €3,500 at the Arqana Deauville Autumn Mixed Sale in November of 2011.
