Chasing Shadows lived up to her name as the mare led the field a merry dance in the two mile mares maiden hurdle at Tramore.

Mark Enright had kept something up his sleeve for the business end of the race as she powered clear. Mollydod got going late and closed to within three parts of a length at the line but was never getting there.

The win got favourite backers off to a good start as the mare was returned at 6/4. Mollydod was second favourite at 4/1 and Mac Idol was eight lengths in arrears of her in third at 14/1.

“It wasn’t the strongest of races, but she did it very well. She idled on the run-in, but had plenty left,” Mark Enright said of the Dessie Hughes trained six-year-old.

Experience paid off for Chasing Shadows as she had 14 previous hurdle races. Gamble of the race was Puncheon Lady (14/1 this morning down to an SP of 8/1), but she wasn’t competitive in ninth.
