C'est Ta Chance landed the odds in Division 1 of the ClonmelRaces.ie (QR) Maiden Hurdle for Willie and Patrick Mullins. Diamond Approach ran well for a long way, but was headed just before two out where she took a heavy fall. It was C'est Ta Chance, who got the split, and strong-travelling Whatsanotheryear who came through to lock horns.
Whatsanotheryear was off to the left a bit in jumping that flight and C'est Ta Chance held a definite lead at the last. He jumped it much the better than Whatsanotheryear who didn't find the right stride.
C'est Ta Chance, the 8/13 favourite, used the far rail to stay on and came in by five lengths from Whatsanotheryear (11/2). There was a gap of 20 lengths back to third-placed Onlymammycanloveme (50/1).
Jockey Mullins said: "This is usually a Bermuda Triangle race for me and this horse just seemed to drop the bridle coming down the hill.
"Once I got daylight, he hit another gear, though. His jumping would need to sharpen up a bit, but I think he'll improve plenty from it. I think there is a lot of room for improvement.
"He had a good first run last year and we think he is better than his latest two runs, so hopefully he will make into a graded horse."
Paddy Power gave C'est Ta Chance a first show of 40/1 for the Albert Bartlett and kept him unchanged at 66/1 for the Turners.
