The consistent Carried wasn't for beating tonight if the market was any guide and the 5/4 favourite won't have anyone begrudging him his success in the concluding Dundalk Stadium – Light Up Your Night Rated Race as he shed his maiden tag at the eleventh attempt.
Making it two on the night for his rider Shane Foley (won the fourth on Pretty Angel , Carried was atoning for his 'nose' defeat over the course and distance nine days back.
Foley had to coax every ounce from the Footstepsinthesand three-year-old inside the last two but he found a willing partner. The pair eventually saw off Queen Of Alba and Rory Cleary by a length and a half. Third home Cottesloe didn't look easy for Fran Berry and ended up a length and a quarter adrift in third.
Prunella Dobbs trains Carried for her husband George and for what was a real family success their sons Edward and David were also in attendance.
Mrs Dobbs, on her first winner at the venue, remarked: "I was a little bit concerned that the race might come too soon but the race conditions were absolutely perfect.
"He's very consistent and never seems to run a bad race. I'm delighted he's got a win under his belt." (AM & EM)
