Robin De Carlow got her chasing career off to the best possible start when taking the Mid Summer Monday 17th June Race Evening Beginners Chase in fine style at Kilbeggan.

The Willie Mullins-trained mare was a high achiever over hurdles last season winning twice at Listed level before landing a Grade 3 at Limerick on St Patrick’s Day.

The daughter of Robin Des Champs, who carries the familiar blue and white colours of the Supreme Horse Racing Club, was sent off the evens favourite and didn’t really give her supporters an anxious moment.

Paul Townend sent her on before the final fence, and she stretched right away on the run-in to beat Eamon High by 11 lengths, with Westland Row another seven lengths back in third.

Townend said, “The last was really the only semblance of a mistake that she made. She was entitled to win like that and had course form as well which is always a help.”
