Thiswaycadeaux prevailed after a thrilling finish to the four-year-old plus handicap at Sligo. Aspen Belle made a bold bid from the front in the race, over just shy of seven furlongs, but had to give way inside the final furlong. Keep Believing and Thiswaycadeaux stayed on to fight it out in the closing stages with the Willie McCreery-trained filly edging ahead near the line for a neck success under Billy Lee.
The 5/1 winner had already been placed twice this season, most recently when third behind Alans Pride at the Curragh 11 days ago.
McCreery said:- “The visor made a difference and she loves an ease in the ground. She’s a tough hardy mare.
“She was drawn horribly wide and has been putting on weight all year. Only a few of us are meant to be doing that and it’s not her!
“I’m delighted for Amanda (wife and owner) at home looking after the horses and she will be happy this evening. I have the fillies handicap in the Curragh (on Irish Derby day) in mind for her.”
“I took Liquid Amber out of the Guineas. The ground is going to be too quick for her and I think she needs a trip. Mary Tudor is after growing again and we will just take our time with her.”
