Brazil too good for Fishery Lane rivals

Brazil came out on top in first Grade 3 at Naas this afternoon, the Pre-Order @IrishRacingYearbook.com Fishery Lane Hurdle.

Successful over the course and distance in February, the Padraig Roche-trained entire following-up in the Boodles at the Cheltenham Festival.

Also third at the highest level last season, the son of Galileo was second on his return to action at Tipperary last month and was sent off an easy-to-back 15/8 chance today.

Settled in third by Mark Walsh, he came with his challenge on the approach to two out and soon led, skipping a few lengths clear before the final flight.

Ridden on the run-in, he kept on well to record a comfortable three-and-a-half length success.

Returned the 8/11 favourite (13/8 in early shows), Fil Dor had to settle for second yet again. In front and travelling well approaching the second last a bad mistake there proved costly.

The front pair went six lengths clear of Prairie Dancer in third, while Surviving Murmansk completed the course to pick up fourth place prize money of E1,450.

"He was getting weight and the other horse making a mistake at the second last helped us but it's great to get another win out of him," Roche said of the JP McManus owned victor.

"He kept going well. On pedigree all he does is stay as he's a half-brother to Capri and a lovely horse to have.

"He jumped well and stays well. I'll leave plans to JP and Frank (Berry)."
