The Michael O'Callaghan trained Mr Bounty stole the show from Robbie Dolan at Navan today, denying that apprentice jockey a winning first ride, in the opening Navan Welcomes Owners Today Handicap.
Mr Bounty, under Shane Kelly, finished strongly to force a photo-finish with Dolan's mount Lady Ranger with the Judge later calling Mr Bounty the nose winner.
Afterwards O'Callaghan stated "I heard immediately after the race that he (Mr Bounty) was 4/1 to win the photo and I thought we were 'done' on the inside by Adrian Keatley's horse (Lady Ranger).
"It's great he's won though and I thought the short six furlongs would suit. My only instructions to Shane (Kelly) were to bounce and let him find his rhythm as he's a big horse who can get unbalanced.
"This is his grade and all these sprinters have their day so hopefully he can win a couple more."
