At Boolavogue showed tremendous courage when making virtually all to defy top-weight in the extended ten-furlong handicap at Dundalk.
Billy Lee had a very willing partner in an exciting finish as the 8/1 chance held on gamely despite his 10st burden. Goal looked the one to beat when looming up full of running early in the straight but he could find no extra well inside the final furlong.
It was left to Flowing Air (9/1) to come home best of the remainder a length away in second, with 4/1 favourite Woodsophiesmile just a short-head further back in third.
Winning trainer Bill Farrell said, “That trip is probably ideal for him. He’s in the Horses In Training Sale but I’d like to hold onto him. There is probably another day in him. We’ll see what happens as the owners pay the bills.
“He’s very genuine and will make somebody a smashing hurdler down the road. He did it well tonight.”
