Bluesea Cracker provides McNamara with Limerick double
Jockey Andrew McNamara recorded a double at Limerick today, adding the featured Grade 3 Hugh McMahon Memorial Novice Chase, on Bluesea Cracker to an earlier win on The Tartan Army
Bluesea Cracker, a daughter of Buster King, was a fortunate winner of her event, with one length-leading Oscar Time taking a crashing fall at the final fence, leaving McNamara to steer Bluesea Cracker to a 16 lengths win. Oscar Time and jockey Barry Geraghty were both subsequently fine.
Delighted winning trainer James Motherway later stated "I'm not sure what would have happened had Oscar Time stayed up but Bluesea Cracker does generally need a lead over the final fence before producing her challenge. We held her up specifically today to get the trip and Andrew (McNamara) even said he got there too soon."
He added "Bluesea Cracker is not EBF registered so isn't eligible for a lot of good mares' races ? getting black-type today was worth a small fortune for her."
