Another punt was landed in Roscommon as Baltimore Buzz put his rivals to the sword in the extended two and a half mile bumper.

Johnny King sent him on entering the home straight and the seven-year-old gelding galloped away from his toiling rivals. In the final furlong the pair drew well clear and hit the line five lengths to the good. Angelica Yeats (14/1) took second with Aunt Berry (20/1) a further six and a half lengths back in third.

Handler Aidan Howard said: "He ran very well in his maiden hurdle and there were winners which came out of that race and I was confident he'd win today.

"I was hoping for a bit of rain and it came in time.

"He couldn't win a point-to-point but jumps very well and he'll be a chaser in time. I'll look for a maiden hurdle next."

Baltimore Buzz was backed during the day from 12/1 to 5/1 and was returned at 6/1.

The Stewards interviewed Mr D Maxwell, rider of Pipewort concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(b), having used the whip unnecessarily when his chance had gone and having considered his clean record, suspended him for two race days. Furthermore the rider was advised to familiarise himself with the regulations regarding use of the whip.
