Back On Top (9/2) dropped back in trip to seven furlongs in the fillies' handicap at Dundalk and she enjoyed herself in coming home two lengths to the good.

David Wachman's charge was drawn nine of nine but Fran Berry got her across to race in second behind Cailin Mor The three-year-old filly was driven into the lead a furlong and a half out and found another gear inside the final furlong to open up a decisive gap on the pursuers.

She was kept up to her work to score from Slipper Orchid who tried to hunt the winner down in the latter stages. The runner-up took this race last year and was popular with punters throughout the day as he shortened to 5/2 from 4/1 before being returned the 9/4 favourite.

Cailin Mor was a further two and a half lengths away in third at 5/2. She had finished second in Navan, four and a quarter lengths in front of third-placed Back On Top when the pair were last seen. Back On Top had a 9lb swing in the weights this evening.

Fran Berry said: "She was weighted to beat Cailin Mor on the run at Navan. She seemed to enjoy the polytrack and running under the lights was a new experience. It seemed to set her alight.

"That was a nice pot to win. I'm not sure but that could be it for her this year."

This gave trainer David Wachman a Dundalk double as Fire Tree bagged race three on the card.

Back On Top picked up 18,850 euro for her owner JP McManus.
