Lustown Baba reversed Navan form with favourite Mutiny from 24 days back, when victorious in the Foran Equine Irish EBF Auction Fillies Maiden (Plus 10 Race) at Cork.
Mutiny (9/4 out to 3s) was easy to back as money came for the Willie McCreery-trained and Leigh Roche-ridden Lustown Baba (9s into 6s).
In this sprint the high drawn numbers held sway. Lustown Baba (stall fourteen), beat Cara’s Company (11), Madaket Mystery (10) and Gold Brocade (9).
The margin between Lustown Baba and Cara’s Company at the line was half a length. The Back Road Syndicate-owned victor battled well after being always to the fore.
Meanwhile Mutiny was struggling from some way out and finished fifth.
"She is a big mare and she isn't slow for an Alhebayeb. The mare has bred all winners, she is a good mare and the syndicate of lads from Dunboyne have (lease) her and one of the lads own her," explained McCreery.
"She is a lovely big mare and as a three year old we'll see the best of her. She qualifies for the Final in Naas, she loves that ground so we'll see if we keep her in for that Naas race.
"I told Nathan (Crosse, jockey) to mind her a bit the last day as the ground was a bit quick for her and she is still green. That track is wonderful out there."
S. Foley, rider of Mutiny trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount struggled on the ground.
The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Ms. Avena O'Keeffe, that J.M. Sheridan, rider of Rock Chica had presented himself to weigh out at 3lbs overweight having declared a possible 2lbs overweight at declaration time. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, in the presence of Tom Mullins, trainer, who accompanied J.M. Sheridan. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards allowed the overweight on this occasion having consulted with the trainer. Furthermore, the Stewards were satisfied that J.M. Sheridan was in breach of Rule 195(i) and Rule 198(vii) and having considered his record in this regard, they suspended him for 3 racedays.
