Trainer Tracey Collins was delighted to see top weight Arctic put in a good display in the six furlongs handicap at Navan when stretching way to win by two and a half lengths.
“Thank God he is showing some form. He is in the Wokingham on Saturday week. It’s not ideal as its only eight days away but we’ll see how he comes out of this. He’s also in the Sapphire Stakes at the Curragh,” she said.
“The ground was a big help. He hasn’t been the easiest to train but this could be a good year for him.”
Michael Hussey was never in danger as he kicked on over a furlong out on the five-year-old son of Shamardahl who won at odds of 4/1. Footprint came home second for Pat Martin at 7/1 two and a half lengths clear of Battleroftheboyne backed in from 9/2 to 7/2, in third for Michael Mulvany.
He was some eight lenghts in front of 2/1 favourite Luisant in fourth for James Nash.
