The Irish Racing Yearbook 2022 Nursery looked a highly competitive race beforehand and so it proved with Arch Enemy getting up close home in a bunch finish at the Curragh.

The Mick Mulvany-trained filly showed promise when finishing strongly at Sligo last week and confirmed that view against 13 rivals in this six-furlong handicap.

Wesley Joyce ’s mount, who attracted some support just before the off from 16/1 into 11/1, again came home powerfully inside the final furlong getting up close home to deny Magniffico by half-a-length. Unconquerable Keen was another half-a-length away in third with Heytesbury Lane just a nose further adrift in fourth.

Mulvany said, “She probably left it a bit late in Sligo the last day but finished well there. I thought that was a better class Nursery today.

“It took her a little while to get it together in maidens and was coming away slow. It’s great to see her doing it now.

“I’m not sure where we will go next but I think she will stay further. She’s only small but she has plenty of heart.”
