Up in trip Alvar took his score on the polytrack to four from twenty two, as well as a few placings, when scoring for the first time since February 2013 in the Dundalk Driving Tourism Forward Apprentice Handicap.
Shane Kelly was in the plate for the first time on the six-year-old. Once they pegged back the clear leader, Tribal Path the Paul Rooney-owned and Michael Halford-trained victor got the better of The Black Devil and the aforementioned pace-setter by half a length and the same.
Garrett Cotter, representing Halford, remarked: "He stayed on well the last day over a mile so it was worth trying the step up in trip and it worked out well.
"It's no more than the horse or the owner deserves as they put a lot in."
Meanwhile Boylesports refunded stakes on High Net Worth who refused to race. (GC & EM)
