It was easy for Gavin Cromwell’s Alfa Mix in the www.tramoreraces.ie Maiden Hurdle.
Odds-on favourite Email Rose (4/5) couldn’t live with Alfa Mix from the second last hurdle.
The 11/4 victor stood off the last but got to the other side nicely before putting nine and a half lengths between himself and his aforementioned rival.
Front-running Formentera ended up fourteen lengths back in third.
Alfa Mix fell in a point-to-point at Ballinaboola in February when competing for handler Matthew Flynn O’Connor.
The son of Fair Mix joined Cromwell for 42,000 pounds soon after the ‘points’ outing.
“I was flat out early on and they went a good gallop on the ground. Thankfully he’s found enough for me and the race has probably fallen apart a bit behind," said winning rider Johnny Moore.
“I sat behind the leaders coming down the hill and said hopefully they’ll take each other on and he found plenty for me.
“I wasn’t sure if he would but he handled the ground well enough. The last day he seemed to handle it okay at Roscommon and thankfully he did today as well.”
The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Wilcos Storm, trained by Eugene M. O'Sullivan, for failing to lodge the passport in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90 (i).
