Alamein got his chasing career off to the best possible start when putting in a fine round of jumping to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase at Fairyhouse.

The 9/1 chance was completing a double on the day for Bryan Cooper and Gigginstown as Dinaria Des Obeaux was awarded the opening Grade 3 Winning Fair Juvenile Hurdle following a stewards enquiry.

The Mouse Morris-trained gelding led before the fifth where the 13/8 favourite Blackmail was a faller.

Cooper’s mount had Dicosimo for company most of the way but stayed on strongly from before the last to beat that rival by eight and a half lengths. Pyromaniac was a further 17 lengths away in third.

Morris said, “Not bad for first time out. He's had a few problems but hopefully we have him sorted out. You couldn't ask for any more but I have no plans for him.”
