Adapt To Dan gained a deserved first win at Gowran today as the Denis Hogan trained four-year-old won the opening division of the MansionBet Beaten By A Head Handicap under jockey Joe Doyle.
The son of Dandy Man had previously failed to win in 18 starts but had earned prize-money on half those runs and today won readily from the basement rating of 45 when beating Sassy Dancer by two and a quarter lengths.
Hogan wasn't present and jockey Doyle later stated “we were beginning to think it might not happen but he’s done it well on the day. That’s our first winner for the owners (Susan Barton) and hopefully it will give him a bit of confidence.
“The better ground was a help to him today. The race worked out for him as they went a good gallop and he had something to aim at.”
