Adam Caffrey became the second apprentice to ride his first winner under rules on the card when making all aboard Magnetic North in the Donaghmore Handicap at Navan.
The young rider had his mount away smartly from his outside draw and made the best of his way home from there.
A dual winner for former trainer Sheila Lavery, Magnetic North was winning his second race for Ado McGuinness. He had previously been successful at Roscommon last August.
Adam Caffrey said: "I'm delighted with that now, first winner on the board. It is tough but, by God, it is worth it when something like that happens!
"I'm 18 and it is one of my local tracks, I'm only 20/25 minutes away from here. I'm signed on to Ado (McGuinness) and he has been very good to me.
"He stays all day and that was the plan to jump out and make it if we can. He pinged the lids and he was gone. I just kept it simple the whole way."
