On outing number two for the yard Edessann brought up an across the card double for Joseph O’Brien in the Cork Handicap.
The Piltown trainer was on the mark only minutes before at Dundalk with the Eddy Greatrex partnered Lord Mczie and it was Shane Crosse that did the steering on Edessann.
Crosse was second in the opener at Cork on Dense Star also for O’Brien, but he went a place better on Edessann as he defeated Maggie Thunder by a length.
The result was confirmed after a steward’s enquiry. Edessann bumped eventual third Crystal Dawn when switched left two furlongs out.
"The last day he ran he was too keen and he ran with the choke out. The idea today was to switch him off and he got him back and switched off beautiful,” said stable representative Brendan Powell.
"He said they went hard and he finished the race well. It's nice to get his head in front.
"When then go quick, it suits him as they come back to him; he is what he is but has gone and done it so there's no reason why he couldn't win again as he is a big strong horse."
The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Edessann, ridden by S.M. Crosse, placed first and Crystal Dawn, ridden by G.F. Carroll, placed third, where it appeared that interference may have occurred.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the judge's placings and they took no further action.
