Aidan O’Brien doubled his score in race two at Navan as outsider of his three representatives Royal Lytham (10/1) proved best in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C & G) Maiden under Seamie Heffernan.
A son of first season sire Gleneagles, Royal Lytham picked up well in the closing stages to collar Dark Vader by three parts of a length as the Donnacha O’Brien-ridden United Front (4/7 favourite) floundered back in fourth.
O’Brien junior had landed the curtain-raiser on Ballydoyle’s Tango
“I travelled strong and I would have been a very unlucky loser (not clear run a furlong out),” said Heffernan.
“I was lucky Robbie (Colgan, on eventual 3rd Prince Of Naples dropped away and I got a split. He won easy.
“You'd like his attitude, attitude is a big plus and he's one of them that could be anything. He won very easy.”
