He is very reliable, loves these conditions and loves Limerick. He takes a while to get going every year but, generally from here on he has his conditions and weather. Racing on autumn soft ground isn't the same as proper Limerick winter ground and he comes into his own now. He was second in the Midlands National (at Uttoxeter) last year and will possibly go back there again. There aren't many races to suit him over extreme distances with his rating, but he will go back there for that one.

I didn't really think about pulling up because I felt comfortable; he's a safe old jumper so I was happy enough to keep going. . Going up the hill I thought they had got away from me a bit and I just gave him a chance. He's a horse that doesn't like hitting the front too soon so it worked out ideal. Going to the third last I felt I had them covered. It was great - it was something new anyway! It's my first ride for Denis so it's very important to get a win.

it wasn't the right trip for him but he had to go on and it wasn't ideal for him but he got the job done well. There is a chance he could run again here in a Rated Novice on Sunday over 2m6f. He jumped well for his first handicap and we'll see how he is tomorrow but he could come back later in the week.

He was a course and distance winner and had been working nicely lately. It wasn't the strongest race and I told Liam (Mulryan) he'd go close, so I hope he had a few quid on. He'll come back here for a handicap chase at Christmas even though he isn't as good over a fence. Damien (Skehan) is assistant trainer to me now; he actually came to me in July and the first week he broke his foot so he missed most of the autumn. He is a massive addition and is a very good judge and he along with Jack (Hogan) will ride in the amateur races for me.

I'm delighted to have another winner for Liam (Mulryan) as he is a good supporter and is one sound man. He is here, he doesn't always come racing but it was lovely to have him here today. He is still a bit weak and it is deplorable ground and he wandered around on it. It was a low grade event today but he'll have a nice future in handicap hurdles. He is a lovely staying chaser in time and his brother by Sholokov (point to point winner Wide Receiver) made GBP410,000 at the sales two weeks ago.
