I'm delighted and he might now run at Punchestown but I don't know which race as of yet. I'll discuss it with the owners. Barry said he rode him a bit differently today . he understands him.

I had it in my mind that if he won here today that he would go back for the John Durkan and he'll probably go there now,. If he had been beaten I was thinking of the Grand Sefton at Aintree. Barry said he took a blow across the top and missed one but he got his lungs filled coming down the hill. I was very disappointed when he schooled at Punchestown recently but he did two very nice pieces of work since. If I hadn't seen him at Punchestown I would have fancied him a lot today. Long-term he will stay going. I was a bit blase with him last year. I put him away but didn't get rewarded. He is nine rising ten.

I'm delighted and he might go straight for the Ryanair now. He hasn't many options between now and then and Christmas is very close now anyway where he would have to run either over two or three miles. This was always his pre-Christmas target and I'm delighted that he has achieved it. I'm pleased too that he has reversed Ryanair form with J'y Vole. Last season he ran too close to Cheltenham and we'll try to make a better job of it this time. He has options after Cheltenham too. It was unfortunate for a horse like him that they had to miss out on three fences in this race but he's overcome that.

He established that he can at least go right-handed now. That was one of today's objectives. The logical step now is to go for the John Durkan at Punchestown. It is the right trip for the horse, and he will have a run under his belt. I hope that he's at least as good if not better than last season.

It isn't often things go as much to plan as that. Hopefully it's onwards and upwards and I couldn't have asked for more,. The owners decided we would be as well off runnning for €26,000 as schooling after racing. It was a very delicate balancing act as we wanted a bit of work and wanted to win the race but didn't want him to have a hard race. It worked out well. Hopefully he'll come on for the race. It's his first Graded Chase and if he improves from it he must have a shout (in the Ryanair). He has won on soft but I think he's better on better ground and I think he should come to hand in the spring.

thats as much as could have been expected of him on his chase debut and, although I was a little concerned with his jumping in the straight, he has a great appetite for chasing.
