It's a fantastic pot! My horses weren't right for about a year until six or eight weeks ago, but they are now firing. He rides like a three miler, but he's a half brother to Bacchanal who was a staying hurdler. He's better over two miles. He'll get an entry for Wexford next Sunday, but he's ground dependant so we'll see what the ground is like. It's my biggest win. It's unfortunate for Ben, but I'm delighted for Mikey. He's had a great start to his professional career.

He seems to love tight tracks and better ground. He won his bumper at Wexford, his maiden hurdle at Downpatrick and now his beginners chase here. As I said at Downpatrick, I didn't think it would take him as long to win over hurdles. I was running him at Grade 1 tracks but he just seems to prefer the tighter tracks. He won his point-to-point last November and Paul said he was slow over the first couple of fences. It took him a bit of time to get the hang of fences again. He's been on the go for 12 months now and I was going to give him a break but Paul said he's in good form and to keep going.

I was expecting him to win last Christmas. He won his point-to-point and his bumper and I thought he was a very good horse. I don't know what has been wrong with him and I didn't expect him to be winning his maiden hurdle at Downpatrick in May. He enjoyed the tight track and the good ground.

after The Amarillo Kid won his point to point I thought he was very good but he's had a few problems which just needed some time. He was a bit immature and he owners were very patient!. All the ‘word' today was for O'Grady's horse (The Way We Were) but our horse travelled well and did it well. I'm not sure how good he is but he is a half brother to Bacchanal (who beat Limestone Lad to win the 2000 Stayers Hurdle) and he'll either go for a winners' bumper or go hurdling now.
