I went to school in Monaghan and did my leaving cert. I wasn’t sure about college so I went to work full-time for John. I took out an apprentice license before lockdown but had to wait a while to get going. I’ve a few options whether to keep riding or go to college next year and I’ll see how Dundalk goes in the next couple of months. Dad has a good team of horses and I’m in competition with Siobhan (Rutledge) who is riding very well.

He deserved that and has put a few good runs together. He handles the slow ground well. Colin thought he might have the speed for six on slow ground so that’s something to think about. It’s nice to get his head in front for the year as he’s probably not a Dundalk horse. He probably gets a mile but has sharpened up his last few runs.

We've always thought the world of him but he's just taken a bit of time to come to himself. This year he's a different horse to last year, and I wouldn't be surprised if he could really step up and go into Listed company. That's all ahead of him but we'll take him home and see how he is in the morning. He's pretty smart.
