I'm delighted he was able to cope with the rise and I think that'll be him (finished) for the season because he handles proper winter ground. He had a bit of trouble as a five year old so there's no point in having to walk tracks and decide whether to run or not. He was a horse we probably pushed too much as a youngster and he was a late developer and it's nice to see him improving now and hopefully he can develop into a nice staying chaser next season.

He is a big Oscar horse and went through the ground well. His form had been working out and while it was obvious he would win a handicap hurdle, I didn't think he'd win in that fashion but with the depth of the ground, he handled it and others didn't. It is one of those grounds than some handle and some don't. He's not going to stay going during the summer as that's what was wrong with him early on as we tried to do too much too soon with him. He's a big gross horse and will stick to soft ground and could be a nice handicap chaser in the future.

That was a surprise, a happy surprise, as we weren't expecting that!. He was a bit green but jumped very well and jumped a few like a fence. We wanted to be positive and he doesn't seem to be as slow as he seems at home. He's a big backward type and ten years ago horses like him would be only coming into training at five. Maybe that's why he wasn't giving us that feel at home and we won't be in any rush with him now. He'll go chasing next season.
