Juice in the ground, that's the secret to her. I can't say I was happy with the handicapper putting her up 30lb but it turns out he was right,. She's a different mare on this ground. We were going to go on Champions Weekend but when the rain came we said we'd come today. We'll see what the handicapper does now, whether we are going for another handicap or maybe try a little listed race somewhere. The listed race in Galway (Oyster Stakes on September 7th) might be the ideal race on soft ground. She ran a great race in Galway last time when the ground beat her.

She's improving, more than I thought, because I thought the handicapper was very hard on her giving her 20lb. She was up in class today and she's done it well. She's going the right way. She has to be ridden like that and he (Andrew Slattery jnr) rides her well. He's got the key to her and I don't give him any instructions as he knows her. That's a nice prize and we aimed her for this race after the last day. We'll have a look again now and see, we'll take our time. We could maybe look at one of those good handicaps in Galway. She likes coming late and gets a turn of foot out of somewhere. She was nearly last turning in there today. They didn't go a great gallop early on but mid-race they quickened it up.

We were probably a bit unlucky in the first two races (with Sunwalk and Aingeal Dorcha who were both second) ,. The handicapper was right. He gave her 10lb and I rushed her and ran her back too quickly in Dundalk. He forced my hand that day but she's won with the 10lb today. I think she's better with a bit of ease in the ground and I see no reason why I can't step her up in class now, even to a mile-and-a-half. She's an improving filly.
