I was praying this rain wasn't going to come as he loves good ground and I think he's even fitter today than he was at Killarney as he has taken so long to get fit. He is 14 but at home he is showing us he is seven. I said to Frank Berry leaving the back straight 'we are cooked here' but fair play to Aine what a ride as she persevered and all the gaps came and a good jump at the last put it to bed. We'll never say never but we'll have a long summer to think about it (possible retirement).

We left the blinkers off today and claimed the 7lbs and tried everything because coming down, I realistically didn't think we had a chance with Minella For Value with the way he beat him in Killarney but he pulled up and I hope he is ok,. He (On The Fringe) travelled really sweet and Aine gave him a lovely ride and got the inner the whole way around. The first phone call I got coming down off the stands was from Ms (Nina) Carberry so we're all delighted. I was just so nervous coming as I wanted him to finish in one piece but we're not going to make any decision (regarding retirement) today. He has been my best horse with what he has done.

Enda (Bolger, winning trainer) had him in some form. He's the people's horse now and the crowd went mad when he won. At least I wasn't injured (suspended when he won at Aintree) and Jamie did a great job on him that day. I'm just delighted to be back on him today. It's all down to the horse. He's just a brilliant horse to have around,. I'm a bit emotional as I always think of John Thomas. He's a special horse for us. This is the one the pressure was on but we knew he was bouncing and everyone worked hard to get him here. Let's party now!. Him and Nina have a great rapport. She knows what to do and they trust each other. His jumping was faultless. Full marks to Nina and to Sarah who looks after him at home and to John Thomas who rode him here in his first Champion Hunters.

you don't know with the meetings so close how well they are but he always gave us the indications that he was in good form all the time. He's been an amazing horse this season. I'm thrilled - over the moon. The plan is similar for next season. That'll do me. It was a lovely clever ride by Nina.

Punchestown 2012 was his last run. He fractured a bone in his hock last year. He's a bit brittle but is a good horse and his jumping has always been fantastic. We'll look at Leopardstown and Cheltenham for him. JT (McNamara) rode him [on his last appearance in May 2012 when winning the champion hunters chase at Punchestown by 12 lengths] and said we are going to go places with him. He finished fourth in the Foxhunters as a four-year-old but he'll be better for it now he's a man.

On The Fringe will continue to mix it between cross-country and hunter chases - he got a stone bruise when he was over at Cheltenham and that is why he didn't run there. He is still a relatively fresh horse and should make up into a nice La Touche horse in time as he is good at the banks.

He's a nice horse for the future. They just went so fast but John Thomas used his head. He won his point to point at Lisronagh three weeks ago, Nina rode him and thought he was brilliant. We decided to give him his chance with more experienced horses today but we never thought he'd win, we'd have been delighted if he finished in the first five or six.
