It was a pleasant surprise. Some of the syndicate are here but some aren't and I was sending them a message saying with the ground the way it is I was hoping he wouldn't get too tired and I was telling Dillon to look after him. He's been a great servant. He won once before the lads got him and that's eight he's won now for them. He's a very genuine horse. We had no year at all with him last year as he had a couple of small injuries and only ran once in Punchestown. First time back, having had only one run last season, I was sure he'd take the run but we'll take it. Originally he didn't handle softer ground at all. The lads are from Galway but the year before he ran a cracker and was second on heavy ground there. He definitely goes on good ground and will be kept going now as he's shoving on in years.

He has been a super horse for us altogether and I think that's his seventh win for us now. I thought this might have been a hot contest but he seemed to handle the track no bother. I thought if we were going to have a winner it might have been the other fella (Amlad), but he was beaten fair and square.

He's been a great servant for us. He ran a nice race at Fairyhouse when he didn't get the clearest run up the straight and Joe (Doyle) said the step up to two miles would be a help to him. The horse is probably getting a bit slower as he gets older. He'll go to Galway now, the lads who own him are from there and they've been bursting to go there since they bought him but haven't made it yet. He'll probably run in a two-mile handicap hurdle there. It's Joe's first winner for me and I've found him very good to deal with.

the race just worked out ideally for him and the two of them (leader Roachdale House and chasing Mandarin Monarch got a handy enough lead. Things haven’t worked out quite as well as we would have hoped this summer but that’s probably the most valuable race he’s won. There is a good bunch of lads involved, they are all from Galway so he’ll be rolling on to the Festival probably for a staying race on the Flat. He’s a horse we claimed for E10,000 and he’s after winning five for the lads and it’s their first ever horse.

He has been a great horse for the lads, that's the fourth race he is after winning. He won two at Dundalk and he is after winning two over hurdles now. We will see if the ground stays okay we might continue over hurdles and if not he will probably appear at Dundalk at some stage over the winter. He could go for something like this again or else we could try him off a low weight in a more valuable handicap. He should stay further. He got a mile and a half well on the Flat and all he does is battle. He is not the most impressive at home but the last two days he easily could have come out the wrong side of it but he stuck the head down well both times. Hopefully there will be a bit more fun to be had with him.

Denis seems to get on well with him. He's ridden him three times, been second on him and won on him twice,. Riding him that way seems to suit as he likes coming by a few. We'll probably give him a little break now and go hurdling for the summer. He's handicapped and had a couple of runs last year. We had intended to go hurdling for the summer last year but he had a travelling incident coming home from Naas one day. We'll give it a go this summer instead.
