He had a good start back at Naas when the saddle slipped so I'll have to take some of the blame for that but he has come back well and probably got a soft enough lead up front,. He likes a bit of juice in the ground so hopefully it keeps raining for him. We'll take it race by race with him and he might go over hurdles again during the summer so we have plenty options for him. It took four and a half hours coming down and this it makes up for Ballinrobe and Dundalk last night!

The horses have been running great but we've been knocking the paint off the cross-bar since the start of the season and that's our first winner,. I thought a lot of him and ran him in a few stakes races last season but he disappointed. However we gelded him over the winter and he is back working like he used to now. He has schooled already over hurdles and jumps like a cat.

He (Wandering Aengus) was well due it and it's a good day. John Egan rode this fellow work at Punchestown one day and said he was very good. Everything went wrong at the Curragh and he met with trouble in running. Everything went wrong at Bellewstown as well as he jumped the road. Declan came in and said that he was smart. He met trouble in running again today and without it he would probably have won by six lengths. I don't usually run my maidens in winners in races but I had no worries about taking them on.
