It was a fantastic opportunity and our horses were under the weather since January. Today is our first runners back since New Year's Day. Catriona O'Donovan, one of the co-owners, her husband Jerry died at Christmas and he was a huge supporter of the yard and today is for him because he'd have been roaring with joy if he was here today. He was a huge supporter of the yard and we would hardly be operating without Jerry. Jerry is in our thoughts at the moment. We might step him up in trip as he is learning to settle and I think he'll get three miles in time. We might have a look at something at Fairyhouse for him as we don't have many that would take us there so we'll go with him if he will take us there. It's great for the yard and we'd a mare touched off for second place earlier in the day so it's great to see the horses running well and great to be back racing.

I'm delighted to be talking to yee (the press) again. We haven't had a winner since the autumn. It's great to get it,. We knew coming here that he'd handle the track, and that he'd handle the ground. We hadn't run him for a while, but we were happy enough that we had him ready. Philip gave him a great ride, he jumped well bar the last, just to give us a little fright which he likes to do! . We might have a look at something in Punchestown, he ran in a Grade B there last year and he might go back for that depending on the ground. It has been a long winter with this weather and not having a winner. We ran three in Mallow Easter weekend and two of them pulled up, while the other was well-beaten. The whispers were out that my horses were wrong but they just couldn't handle the ground.

He jumped very well on the last circuit and I think that is what kept him in it. When he needed a good jump to get there, he got it. He was good and brave at the last and Paul gave him a brilliant ride,. I suppose I knew off his last run that he was in good form coming here and that he would improve from his last run. That was his first run over fences but he had been schooling very well at home. We put in a new all-weather gallop at home and I think that is making a difference to our horses. It showed in him, in his fitness and that. I don't know where he'll go next, we'll see what Mr O'Brien (handicapper) has to say about it. Watching him finishing out he looks like a horse that wants further. He was probably a bit outpaced coming down the hill the last time, but he got a couple of good jumps then and saw it out well. He'll go up in trip.

I think he did it well enough in the end for a horse having his first run in a handicap. I think today is the first day we have realised what type of ground he wants. We always thought he would go on a bit of heavy but Paul said he didnât enjoy it. We will wait for a bit of better ground for him now and up him in trip. He will go for something similar. Iâm delighted for his owners Sean OâConnor and Catriona Donovan. They have been involved with a few horses in the yard and this is their first winner together.
