I didn't know what to expect from him today. I didn't fancy him on that ground as he normally goes better on better ground. Davy (Condon) gave him a peach of a ride. He had him handy enough to keep him interested and that was a big help. He might go chasing now as he is old enough. He might need something to make him think.

He is flying at the minute. I got him in the summer after he'd just seemed to lose his way. He is trained from outside . he's out 24/7 and he does better outside. I told Paddy to go around the outside on him . he doesn't like getting jostled along the rails. He got 9Ibs for Fairyhouse and we took off five here with Paddy's claim just to be sure. We'll see what Noel (O'Brien, the handicapper) does now. He has schooled well over fences and he has that option too.

Irish Soul had a nice run at Navan the last day over 2m7f but we decided to drop him back in trip today as he has plenty of ‘boot'. Andrew McNamara gave him a lovely ride the last day but we decided to put Pat up to claim the 5lbs today. Hopefully he can pick up another one of those but he'll be going chasing shortly as he jumps a fence well. He is owned by P J Mulcahy from Castletownroche, Co Cork - I rode plenty of point to point winners for him and he is a good owner with me now.
