It's nice to win the Captain Christy. He got a lovely ride from Paul . putting him asleep for the first circuit. He came alive with a circuit to go before he put him to sleep again. His experience stood him in good stead (sixth chase start).

It's nice to see the Mayo colours in the winner's enclosure here (the red and green silks of Olivia O'Reilly). I'm delighted for Olivia who is a stalwart of the game. He deserved that win today and he jumped and travelled well.

I don't know how many winners Paul will ride this year but he won't give one a better ride than that. When your going down the back with only one behind you have to find the room, and to be fair he had the horse underneath him. He's improving and is a chaser. The experience that he's gained stood him in good stead today, and he may go to Cheltenham later this month.

Barry (Geraghty) rode Heaney the last day he ran and told me to drop him out next time out. I told Paul (Townend) to take his time today and he said that he even arrived there too soon. He was pushed a bit wide coming down the hill and was forced to go with the flow and produce his challenge when he did. Heaney will be sent chasing sooner rather than later and while the track was not ideal, he loved the ground.
