Great Huzzar, who is part owned by Ronan Keating, battled gamely to win the Breeze Up at Gowran Park May 24th Handicap over 1m for trainer Tommy Stack with Wayne Lordan in the saddle.

Boyzone star Ronan Keating got off the mark as an owner at Roscommon this evening and subsequently remarked “it was better than having a number one record!”, after witnessing his Great Huzzar win the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C & G) Maiden.

Ronan Keating and his wife Yvonne were easily spotted on a low-key meeting at Cork this evening but the singer was out of luck with his Great Huzzar which could only manage sixth to winner Estithmaar in the Cork Racecourse Maiden at Cork today.

He is a bit fragile really. He was lame for about a week after the Curragh and he takes a bit of managing. He needs soft ground and is better going seven furlong or a mile. It's very much a day to day thing with him.

we always liked Great Huzzar but he had a few little problems and pulled a muscle last spring. He needed the run badly at Cork the last day and we'll take our time with him now. While he handled the cut in the ground, it wasn't imperative for him to have it.
