It's great for a ten-year-old that had kind of went wrong on us during the summer and had fallen back down to this mark,. It was the same mark he had fell down to two years ago when he won two at the Curragh. He climbed back up again then. Mikey gave him a peach of a ride. I'm sure he's going to ride loads to winners because he was real cool on him, exactly to instructions. He ran better than his finishing position last time, only beaten four lengths on good to firm. If you look back all his form is on soft ground and he got it today. There is a race here again in two weeks time and if we can just keep the momentum up he could climb again like those sprinters do. They get down to a level and then go again. It's great to have him and great for John Bowden. He's with me from the start. Most fellas when a sprinter like him gets to ten years of age they start losing faith. He was the first winner John ever had and he won five for him. He hung in there all summer long even at some stages when we were scratching our heads and wondering if he was going to come back to himself. It's great to get it and it'll keep the show on the road.

It’s very hard to find those type of horses. Navan, Naas and the Curragh all suit him,. The five today was a bit short but the heavy ground made it enough of a test. He was beaten in this race last year when going for three in a row. He’s been a model of consistency. He got 4lb for finishing second the last day and was off 69 today which is about his peak. That’s his eighth race won. John (Bowden, owner) had three horses with me before him and couldn’t get one to finish any closer than mid-division. Then this fella came along and he’s been knocking great sport out of him for the last three or four years.

It was the same conditions as last time and he loves it. He's one of those horses that gets on a roll. He was fresh after the last day and we just kept him fresh. He was really well coming into today and I'm delighted for the owner John Bowden. He's been coming here since he was 17/18 and never thought he'd have a winner here. He's after having two now. Shane said he idled but when the other horse got to him he battled back. He's better over a stiff six like here or Naas and as he's after winning two now we might end on a high note and come back again next season.

There is no truer saying than horses for courses and this lad has won twice over course and distance. He was third at Dundalk and I probably ran him back a bit quick. He's a horse that wants about four to five weeks between runs. I'm delighted for the owner John Bowden. He's a retired Dublin businessman and it's his first winner. We bought the horse out of Liz Doyle's and he was second a few times for John last year. He came down 9lb over the winter and that gave him a chance.

He was very fat in Dundalk the last day, but was much fitter today. He had a beautiful draw for the horse he is, as he likes daylight.

Pat (Smullen) rode him the last day here over five, where he flew home at the finish. He told me to make sure and run him over six the next day.
