Trainer Edward O'Grady and jockey Andrew McNamara stole the honours at Kilbeggan thanks to a double with Newt Town Bay and Jack FinchFri 11th Sep
Jack Finch, became the third winner of the day to have previously scored over the course (College Daisy and Dashing Ruby the other two) when he held off See Double You by a head in the Dunbia Handicap Chase. In the process the Overbury gelding was bringing up over a 42/1 double for Edward O'Grady and Andrew McNamara. The pair had earlier been on the mark with New Town Bay.

After the win of College Daisy, course-winning form again proved the key as Dashing Ruby led before three out and his fluent hurdling enabled him to beat off Tuscany Star (mistake five out and lost the lead and a number of places), who rallied but got the last wrong also, by four lengths, in the Fay Bookmakers Handicap Hurdle.

She keeps surprising us. Ian's five pound claim made the difference. She'll go for a handicap now, she is in a three miler at Listowel on Thursday but that'll come a bit quick and we'll wait. There will be plenty of other opportunities for her. She is small but she'll probably end up in a mares chase in the winter.

She did it well, she's been in particularly good form lately and we thought she'd run well. She'd a good run at Tipperary but she'd no race in Galway. Ian McCarthy rode her in Galway last time out and when he got down to the start he felt the saddle was a bit loose so he got down to fix it and when he got back up one of the handlers flicked the reins back over his head. When they jumped off Ian tried to bring the horse to the inside rail so he pulled on the reins but horse went in the other direction as the reins had twisted.

She is a half-sister to Watson Lake. She loved the good ground, and she hasn't got it since her first run which is over a year ago. Hopefully she'll win another hurdle but she will go chasing as she isn't the fastest in the world. She will be a valuable broodmare and her owner Gerry Burke (Galway man) will be delighted with her.
