we thought Carloswayback was a good horse over hurdles but his form got progressively worse and his later runs were terrible. He got a fall in a graded hurdle which looked a simple at the time but didn't turn out to be simple.

“We were disappointed with the way he ran. We think an awful lot of him and for whatever reason it didn't happen on the day.
“Coming to the turn-in I said he was running terrible. He stayed on a little bit and came out of the race perfectly. Maybe in the next few days something might turn up.
“I took him out of the Grade One at Leoparstown this morning and we'll probably go back to a winners' race with him and see from there. He didn't run anything up to like what we think he's capable of.”

We think a fair bit of him. We didn't plan to come here today but when we saw the race we said we'd let him take his chance. We fancied him in his bumper but he was very babyish and ran too free. He'll improve an awful lot for today as that was his first time on grass for ages. I know it would be a huge step-up but the Royal Bond or the Navan novice hurdle (formerly the Barry & Sandra Kelly Memorial) are options for him now.
