I'm delighted. I had him in yesterday in the two-and-a-half mile hurdle and I swerved that to come for this. After he fell the last day in Cork I thought he'd enjoy himself tipping around here. Those horses that have a bit of class always have it and it was just a question of if we could travel long enough to produce that turn of foot that turn of foot he has because he's quite a quick horse. I'm delighted for Mr Peacock who has supported me so well and I'm delighted for the horse. He's won two races for me now. Five years ago he ran in this race and he got beaten a nose. So to come back five years on and get the win is great for a ten-year-old horse. He still shows an awful lot of his enthusiasm and he loves the job. I'll have a chat with Mr Peacock and see what we do. He's qualified now for those premier handicaps as you have to had a run on the Flat within the last 18 months. He kind of needed to run here today. We'll have a look and see how he is. He was retired last year, came back and won over hurdles and I think he'll win over fences when he gets conditions right for him. He's won on the Flat and he can tip away so we'll see. The horses welfare always came first and as long as he was enjoying and running well we'd keep going. He does enjoy his work and he's sound, fit and well so we'll see where we go. We have plenty of options now.

obviously when he came to me it was taking one day at a time and if he's healthy he'll keep going. I had a girl, Louise Lynne who was waiting in the wings to ride him in the racehorses-to-riding class at the RDS but it's all going great now. I don't the full extent of why or for what reason but obviously the horse's welfare comes first and is paramount but he has shown no reason why he shouldn't be in training, as he is sound, fit and well and is enjoying what he is doing.

He had top weight but he had it for a reason and I went out with the mindset to ride him like the best horse, and thankfully it paid off. Donagh (Meyler, on Wakea) had a big lead but it's very hard to do round here, you don't get that much of a lead without doing a hell of a lot. At that stage I had no choice but to drop in, there was nothing I could do about it. It's a bit of a surprise for me, I fancied our other one, Renneti, as he'd been working well at home and I thought Arctic Fire could be a social runner!. But he's a class horse on his day, even with top weight he'd been dropped 6lb. He pulled so hard going down Paul dropped him right in, lucky enough he got a clear passage on the outside. It's fantastic for Paul and Nick Peacock, the owner. He chipped a bone when I was getting him ready for last year's Champion Hurdle and he has joint trouble all the time, he's a bit like me getting out of bed on a morning. Donal, who rides him at home all the time, knows him inside out and he tells me when he's right or not.

The ratings tell the story and he was entitled to win. He took a keen hold but has always been that way. He'll run over two miles at Christmas, and I'd say he will stay at home (Leopardstown),.
