it was nice to win under his old partner (Brian Hayes) and he gets on very well with him. I was a bit disappointed in Ballinrobe and didn't know what to expect today. I might look at the Galway Hurdle and I'll see how he comes out of this.

He'll head to Galway next for the Galway Hurdle and the strong gallop should suit him. He'll have a little break first though. He'll go chasing when he gets tired of hurdling!

He was fit from the flat, and was unlucky in Leopardstown as everywhere he ran into trouble. He ran a few times over fences but we may keep him over hurdles now for this season.

He's just improving and he has so much confidence, I don't know why. I always thought he was OK, but I didn't think he was a 95 horse. The more he wins the more confidence he is getting. I didn't think he would be as effective on that ground, but he just has so much confidence at the minute. We don't do much with him at home. He's only rated 115 over hurdles. I took a chance and entered him in the November Handicap at Leopardstown so he may go there.

Chris was very positive on him and is a great rider. It's a shame he's so heavy. the more I thought about it the more I fancied Ancient Sands as he was in great form. He'll go to Naas on Sunday and hopefully it doesn't rain as all he has wanted is fast ground. He's not hard on himself and doesn't do a lot at home.

He's a big strong horse. He has plenty of pace, which you need around here, and won over seven as a two-year-old. He loves that surface as he wants real quick ground. Pat said we should run him a few more times here over the winter. He's in Monday and Tuesday at Limerick and the Curragh, and will probably run at one of them before the ground changes.

He has scope to jump a fence in time and is a genuine horse. It mightn't have been a very good race but he won convincingly. I'm delighted for his owners [Mee family], they are fantastic owners. I hardly ever leave here empty handed! I was meant to be at the sales today, but this is my favourite track in the whole world!

Joseph is a great rider. He is just so instinctive. He's rode five for us now and that's three winners. That wasn't the plan (always close up and led over four furlongs out). The horse has been disappointing. He had his wind done in the spring and it knocked the stuffing out of him. It took him longer to come back than we had hoped. The owners will be happy as they had a few quid on. Joseph said he loved the surface and he might go hurdling as he is a fine big horse.

He's a nice big baby and will be a nice horse next year,. I think there is a race for him at Fairyhouse (Sunday week). Smullen said not to run him more than once again. But I don't always listen to jockeys!. I fancied Ancient Sands more than the other lad. Rory (Cleary) rode him (Equus Ferus) the last day and said we wanted to drop him in because he was too keen. He was right.
