Wexford Thu, 25th Apr, 2024  Shadow Rider Aidan said he was a bit sticky and he gave him a great ride in fairness to him,. He gave him a great hunt around and his bit of class got him home after all his errors. He's a lovely horse to have and it looked like an ideal opportunity for him. He's already won one this year and been touched off in a Listed hurdle so he had a good oul year. That's probably as quick as he wants the ground. I'll talk to Frank and JP and see what they say but for a ten-year-old he's had a good year.

Naas Sun, 10th Mar, 2024  Fun Fun Fun That was super. The race suited her, a quick enough two miles, and she jumped great, a little bit keen. She'll go to Fairyhouse next, I don't know if two-and-a-half miles there will really suit her but it's mares novice Grade 1 so she'll go there. I can't wait for her to go chasing next year, her pedigree is all staying chasers. I think when she goes over fences she might be able to go out in trip. If she jumps as well she could be hard to catch in those mares chases next year. She wants to win and she just loves jumping. In her bumpers we were trying to hold her up but when she's so good to jump you're better off just letting her roll away and I think that's improved her.

Gowran Park Sat, 9th Mar, 2024  Annamix Luke is only 17 and from Donegal. He’s been with us about two years and is taller than me. He’s a very natural rider who works very hard at his weight and deserves the opportunity. It’s great for him to get the win. He rode a bumper winner for Barry Fitzgerald before in Galway. He’ll go back to Aintree now and I’ll ride him there. He’s a brilliant jumper and Aintree will suit him over two and a half miles. He’s a fast horse, they went slow and it turned into a sprint which suited him.

Fairyhouse Sat, 24th Feb, 2024  Intense Raffles It's easy to get carried away in a three-runner race where it kind of suited us as well. Tony's horse (Mullins, Good Time Jonny, third) is probably much better dropped out in a big field and Henry's mare (de Bromhead, Brampton Belle) hasn't been in great form anyway. If we didn't win it we would have been very disappointed but, at the same time, we couldn't have been happier with the way he did it.

Fairyhouse Sat, 24th Feb, 2024  Shadow Rider That's great. He's a lovely horse, but he's fragile. We train him out of the pool a bit. He's a bit inconsistent, but he did it well today and it's great to get a win out of him. They went very quick. Hopefully, he's alright in the morning and we'll take it from there. I'm delighted for Peter (Smithers, jockey), it's nice for Frank (Berry) and JP (McManus) to give him a chance. He's with me every day of the week and works hard, so it's great that he got a winner as well.

Punchestown Sun, 18th Feb, 2024  Tullyhill He has a fair engine and we just needed to give him confidence jumping. David Casey (assistant trainer) was deputised with that job and has done a right job. He’s entitled to go anywhere after a performance like that. I thought he’d be an out-and-out stayer but he has plenty of speed, a great cruising speed, and now his jumping is starting to match his cruising speed. He’s in the Supreme and I’ll have a word with connections and see what they would like to do.

Fairyhouse Sat, 13th Jan, 2024  Intense Raffles That was the dream start. The race really suited and we thought he was on a fair mark on his early French form. It was nice,. It's great to get the horse to start with and I'm just delighted to have one for them.

Naas Fri, 12th Jan, 2024  Tullyhill He needs practice jumping. He’s just very sticky and his best jump was maybe the second last when they came up around him. He probably likes being competitive and I’m happy his jumping will improve as the season goes on. He’s probably more of a chaser in the long run. He needs all the practice he can get and we’ll get at least another run into him (before Cheltenham). I thought he was a stayer but he might be better going a good gallop over two miles. After getting beaten the last day (over 2m6f) I don’t want to go out in trip with him yet.

Fairyhouse Mon, 1st Jan, 2024  Riviere D'etel she'll probably be very hard to place as I'd say going right-handed really suited her. Jack said she loved the ground, he said she stayed very well and we're delighted with her. I don't know where I'll go with her but I'd love to go right-handed. Cheltenham (in March) wouldn't be out of the question, I'll talk to Noel (Moran, owner) and see what they want to do, but it just mightn't be the right place for her.
