David Marnane is optimistic of a good run from 93-rated Jakajaro in the €100,000 Goffs Sportsman’s Challenge over an extended five furlongs at Naas today.

This son of Too Darn Hot has had six runs in his juvenile campaign and got off the mark with a decisive victory in a Curragh nursery over six furlongs in July.

Marnane said: “He’s in good form and he’s run to a 90 plus pretty much on his last three runs and we think there is more to come. We think he’s a very good horse and he’ll appreciate the bit of rain.

“Hopefully there is a bit of juice in the ground. I don’t think he’s ground dependent but he obviously handles it well.”

The going in Naas this morning is good to yielding, yielding in places.

Jakajaro currently trades around 5/1 behind odds-on favourite King Cuan
